What purpose did the calendar serve? The calendar is a system for organizing social, religious, time, weeks, dates, years and more. The purpose of the calendar was to have give the Egyptians a set date, and time of the year so that they knew what was going on. They had to know when the flooding of the Nile was happening otherwise they'd be out a lot of money with crops. The calendar impacted, and changed to improve the Egyptians life, it was improved over time, but was still a very helpful thing to the Egyptians.

What impact did it have on this civilization? The calendar had a great impact on the Ancient Egyptian civilization, it had an impact on their agricultural system, what was happening at certain times of the year, and holidays. If they didn't have a calendar they wouldn't know what time of the year the flooding of the Nile happened, when agricultural growing was good, etc. They divided it into 3 main seasons, inundation, growing and harvest. Each season had 4 months, divided into 30 days.

What impact does it have on the world today? It has a great impact on everyone. It gave people the exact year and day it was. It also had the day that it was, so then people could write appointments that they had on a certain date so they knew when to go to things. Also for holidays, it would tell people when they were. Without a calendar we'd have no clue about an exact date, and the year, and holidays. Even though we updated the calendar to make it more accurate, we wouldn't have any if it wouldn't have been for the Egyptians.
